My term presentation

"Social networking and Loss of privacy"
Individuals are increasingly using social networking sites to keep in touch with friends, family,to find jobs and enchance their carrier.According to the online survey about Facebook users, they reported that in average, people spend about 38.86 minutes each day and have friends more than 25 to 1000. Sometimes information gleaned from such sites are useful to find thieves too. However informations shared in social networks have negative conquiences. Providing name ,date of birth and list of friends users are revealing more than enough.
Most of the social networking sites have been used in assessing employment candidancy and that student have been suspended or criminally charged on basis of information posted in face book. Beside that personal information shared in social networking sites when combined together with new technologies for gathering and compiling data can create a finger print of behaviors. Those personal information provides opportunities not only for legimate business purpose but also for wicked aim of identity thieves.
Privacy preferences project (p3p) developed by World Wide Web Consortium(W3C), provides a simple automated way for users to control who has access to their personal information on the web sites they visites. P3P provides a standarized frame wokr of privacy relate dissues, covering all the aspect of a web sites or orgination's online privacy polices. But, P3P can not protect the privacy of users in cuntries or juridictions with insuficient data privacy laws.

  1. i agree with you because it shows easily these corporation are able to track us down and use any means to get us. especially headhunters for big corporation, i believe if they can find you on linked i wont be surprise if they find you on facebook. furthermore, i believe it is also the individual that should hide their pictures because if they do plan on working for a big corporation, you dont know what your employees are capable of doing. i know a friend that have been blackmail before when she eventually was a co-executive. and the employee demanded a raise and a promotion. but it eventually settle in a law case but still people are really judgemental especially big cooperates
